Jesus had much to say about children and we take his instruction to value them seriously. We want the children in our church community to enjoy belonging to Shipley Baptist Church and to have the freedom to explore faith in a way that makes sense to them.
Our regular Sunday morning worship aims to be a free and welcoming space for children. Most Sundays our children go to their own groups after about 20 minutes of the church community worshipping together. In their groups they explore faith through various fun activities. We have a crèche for the youngest of our community.
Each month we come together across ages using Scripture Union’s Explore Together resource. This helps our children to explore the Bible using natural learning preferences. We like it so much that once a quarter we try to bring the whole church together on a Sunday morning to hear from God and learn from each other.
The toddler group ‘Zephtots’ (run as part of the Zephaniah Trust), takes place on Thursdays during term time from 1pm-2.45pm. The group is for under 5’s and their parents/carers. We meet in the hall (via the car park door) for chat, play, stories, snacks and songs- not forgetting coffee and cake the grown ups too!
There is no charge but donations to cover snacks are always appreciated.
We also work with the Zephaniah Trust each summer to run a week-long holiday club at Shipley Baptist Church.
